It’s hard not to make excuses for bad behavior. It’s even harder when you’re the one who behaved badly. What to do? Apologize, mean it, and work like hell to make it up to the person. That is, if you’re fortunate enough that they’re willing to forgive you. And never do the thing you had to apologize for again. No excuses.

Forgiveness is powerful. Don’t abuse it by not learning from it.
